News from the Wireless

September 2018

Hi there, fellow Miss Fisher fans!

News, wonderful news! The con committee has spent the last month reviewing the proposals we received for con locations. We had folks propose three California locations - Hollywood, Burbank, and San Jose - and two spots in Colorado: Denver and Boulder. Thank you to everyone who submitted them!

OK, I know, I know - just tell you already! So without further ado, we are pleased to announce that the 2019 Miss Fisher Con will take place in...

San Jose, California!

Even before it became the heart of the Silicon Valley, San Jose had a long history as a gateway to the Greater San Francisco Bay Area; if you want to learn more, check out the city's website. Among the attractions for any visitors (and we Phryne fans in particular) is the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum, which not only houses the largest display of Egyptian artifacts in the western US, it also has a planetarium and two rose gardens. That museum - and this city in general - is easily three or four episodes of Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries in one place. We can’t wait to share it with you all!

Top to bottom: Santana Row, Plaza de César Chávez, and the Rosicrucian Museum Entrance.

When selecting a city, the con committee took into account the hotel possibilities, the presence of an international airport, the walkability of the area, and the availability of local board members or ACotA members to help with site visits and meetings. If you’re interested, here’s the full list of requirements.

We are still working out the details on the con hotel and dates (which go hand in hand, really), but we’ll have those for you very soon, along with registration prices and opening dates. Our mission for Miss Fisher Con is to build the fan community, so we’re looking for a place that will serve as both hotel and gathering place, while keeping attendance to a level that will help make it easy to meet and get to know other fans.

Remember, ACotA members will get first crack at registration when it goes live. Members also get other great stuff, including exclusive fan content on our website. Become a member today!

Just as a reminder, our RedBubble site is up year-round, in case you’re feeling the need for some ACotA swag. And we’d love for you to follow us on Tumblr, Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook for additional public content!

Can’t wait to have more to tell you all, and I hope we’ll see you in San Jose next year!

Cheers,

Sarah
