Step back into the glamour of the 1920s and explore how the cultural shifts, technological innovations, and social movements of the time revolutionized swimwear. Kristin’s expertise in (and minor obsession with) vintage swimwear will transport you to an era in which the beach became the ultimate fashion runway. Whatever your passion—knitting or crochet, making costumes, joining a book club, writing (or reading) fan fiction, or something else—nurture it during this time. We've begun some special interest groups on our Slack channel, which all attendees are welcome to join. Bring a project, if you have one, and come nerd out with folks who love what you love!

A chance to recharge your social battery, grab a snack, and prep for the evening’s festivities.

Come to this Night Circus in your finest togs, whether of the Fisherverse or a frock fit for the “big top,” it’s up to you. There’ll be a dance lesson, entertainment by denizens of Seattle nightlife, a special installation by Shadow Girls Cult, hors d’oeuvres and refreshments. Prepare yourself for a fine time and a bit of intrigue. This evening event is included in your con registration, and you can bring additional guests for a fee. Ever wondered what it is about the circus that so captivates our favorite lady detective? We’ll examine the history of circuses as a staple form of entertainment in early 20th century Australia. Through the lens of episodes like Blood and Circuses and Death Defying Feats, we’ll discuss the golden age of Australian circuses, introducing key figures and touring companies that captivated audiences nationwide, as well as the challenges faced by circuses with the rise of competing entertainment forms like vaudeville and cinema.

We’ll go over what the next steps for the con are, introduce our new board members, and initiate a vote on any changes. There may also be some surprises in store!

Ballard Millinery Studio Field Trip || 1149 NW 52nd Street
Make your way to the Ballard neighborhood (between 10th and 14th Avenues NW) for a tour of a local millinery studio for a look at how they make their fabulous creations. This event is open to attendees only, so watch your email for an attendee newsletter and a way to claim your slot.

Optional: Dim sum and karaoke || Diamond Bay Restaurant & Vox Karaoke
Meet us for a group dinner (not included in your con registration) at Diamond Bay Restaurant. We'll nosh on delicious dim sum and spend some last time together. For those who want to keep the evening going after dinner, we suggest Vox Karaoke, which is a short walk away. Check out our Saturday night events page for more details.
